Privacy policy
Last updated 14 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data TatamiChess keeps, why, and how you can control it.
Who we are
TatamiChess is published by Valentin Bourrelier, in France, who is responsible for your data. Contact: contact@tatamichess.com.
What we collect
- Account: your username, your password (never stored in readable form) and, if you add one, your email address. Signing in with Lichess only gives us your Lichess username.
- Training data: the chess.com or Lichess username you enter, the analysis of your public games, your repertoires and your progress.
- Technical data: a cookie that links a guest dojo to your browser, and server logs (IP address, pages requested).
- Waitlist: your email address, if you ask to hear about new features.
Why we use it
To provide the service you ask for, to keep it secure, and, for the waitlist, with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. We don't sell your data, show ads or use third-party tracking.
Cookies
We only use cookies the site needs to work: keeping you signed in, your guest dojo, your language.
One more remembers which version of the home page you were shown, so we can compare versions. We only keep daily totals per version (how many visitors started an analysis, for example), never anything about you, and nothing is counted if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. It lasts a month.
No advertising or third-party analytics cookies.
Who has access
Only the technical providers that run the service for us: hosting, on servers in the European Union, and email delivery. Some are based in the United States; those transfers rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Your public games are fetched from chess.com or Lichess.
How long we keep it
Account and training data: until you delete your account. A guest dojo: 13 months after its last use. Waitlist: until you ask to leave it. Server logs: a short period.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data, and object to or restrict its use. You can delete your account and all its data at any time in Settings › Account. For anything else, write to contact@tatamichess.com. You can also complain to the CNIL (cnil.fr).
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
